BHA HVAC - Baltimore's Premier HVAC Contractor

The Bibb Henry Albert Company has been installing and maintaining heating, air conditioning and HVAC systems in Baltimore's finest homes since 1851. Today, residential HVAC is a lot more than just heating and cooling, it integrates the components into a 'Smart House,' which enables a much higher degree safety and comfort than ever before, all at a reduced operating cost.

The Bibb/Albert-Henry Company, Pikesville The B. C. Bibb Company was founded in 1851 as a stove manufacturing company. At the turn of the last century they were manufacturing central heating furnaces. Today the Bibb Henry Albert Company (BHA) is still at the forefront of the latest technologies and has evolved into one of Baltimore's premier residential HVAC contractors.

BHA maintains a direct relationship with a number of the leading manufacturers and keeps their HVAC technicians up to date with factory training and certification. They understand all the older technologies as well as the latest innovations and how to adapt the new to the old.

The acronym HVAC stands for Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. The heating and cooling plants can be individually upgrade and replaced. The ventilation or distribution system typically can be adapted until a major renovation allows it to be updated while the walls and flooring are open. BHA installs and maintains all the latest technologies like: High Efficiency Boilers, Geothermal Systems, and Radiant Heating.

High Efficiency Boilers:

There are the boilers available today that have 95% to 97% efficiency ratings. This is compared to conventional oil furnaces that have a best case of 81% and typically due to age are down 60-70% efficiency. Chances are if your furnace is old enough to vote, its probably will justify upgrading it. BHA carries the following premier lines of high efficiency boilers: Buderus, and Viessmann.

Geothermal Systems:

The earth maintains a constant temperature of around 55° F so if the outdoor temperatures are 15° F or 90° F a geothermal system can use mother earth to heat and cool your house.

Geothermal Systems work like air conditioners but rather than using the outdoor air to absorb heat on a 90° F day, they use buried pipes to transfer the heat to earth which is at 55°F. BHA represents the Waterfurnace line of premier Geothermal Systems.

The Bibb/Albert-Henry Company, Radiant Heat

Radiant Heat:

Typically Radiant Heat is installed in the floors. In-floor radiant heat is a network of pipes installed underneath the flooring. In-Floor radiant heat is the delivery method for distributing heat and replaces radiators or baseboard heaters. Current radiant heat systems have about a 30% greater efficiency than other delivery systems because there is less heat loss to the ceiling. Heat rises, like a helium balloon.

That is why forced air returns are located near the floor to try and heat the floor, but the bulk of the heat energy ends up at the ceiling. With in-floor radiant heat, the heat is delivered below the floor and radiates up through the floor. The distribution is much more even through out the room and creates a greater degree of comfort than conventional hot air, radiators or baseboard heat. BHA carries the following premier lines of Radiant Heat Technology: Viega, and Rehau.

In Pikesville, MD there were a lot of houses built during the 1950's and 1960's by Gordon Sugar that incorporated early forms of radiant heat. Gordon Sugar was a very successful developer and builder, and featured radiant heat in most of the houses he built. Today BHA services and maintains most of these homes in Pikesville, because their technicians understand the technology.
